Short Circuit Triggers Fire in Gedong Urban Village

Short circuit electricity triggered fire that burned a house on Jalan Waru RT 11/03, Gedong Urban Village, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, Wednesday (5/1) at 10:58 PM.

Fire was extinguished in one hour

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue's Operation Section Head, Gatot Sulaeman, said residents admitted saw first fire came from a room of the house.

"Based on information gathered, house owner was charging his electric car. Due to short circuit, fire appeared and started to burn the house," he said, Thursday (5/2).

At the time of the incident, added Gatot, many local residents were already asleep. They woke up when they heard screams of fire from the owner of the house.

Some residents tried to extinguish the fire with minimal equipment, while others contacted Gulkarmat officers via the 112 call center. Then his side deployed four firetrucks with 20 personnel

"Fire was extinguished in one hour. There is no victim caused by the incident," he added.

Meanwhile, Gedong Urban Village Head, Nunung Siti Cholimah, stated her side also deployed nine PPSU personnel to assist the extinguishing.

"The case is now being handled by police," she stated.
